The Artist's Story
Laura Benson the artist of BENSON ORIGINALS Fine Art, is a Jersey girl that chose to relocate to Maryland over twenty years ago. She is a mother and grandmother of two. With no formal training she has been creating ever since she was a small child. Creating in almost all mediums, oils, acrylics, pastels, pencil, charcoal, pen & ink, watercolors, clay and jewelry. This Artist has also created 2 New Techniques that she uses to create. One is called the Paint Pallet Collage Technique and the other is called the Recycle Technique. When you visit the gallery ask her to share the story behind her newly created techniques. Laura’s works are born from her heartfelt feelings, thoughts and emotions. She also finds inspiration from the observation of society and all that is going on in one’s day. From this deep innerness she is able to create a visual an original work of art to be seen and felt by others. Laura’s childhood dream was to one day make a difference and be able to always give back to others. For years she has donated pieces of her works and or their usage to several charitable organizations while also volunteering to bring the arts to the under privileged city youths. Laura does speaking engagements, private art instruction and also brings the Portable Paint Party to you and your guests - Portable Paint Parties –3P. Little known fact Laura is also a published children’s book illustrator and Book Cover Designer. Her art has appeared in galleries, Ronald McDonald Home that Love Built and Cultural Centers both locally and out of state. She has won several awards, and one of her pieces that was presented to Lady King Peggy hangs in the palace in Ghana. During Black History Month starting 02/22/2022 Laura Benson Art was honored with having 9 pieces of her artwork displayed on the LedBaltimore 52' high Billboard on 1700 N. Charles St. across from Penn Station MD. Those that have come to know Laura and her works are always amazed at her ability to share not only every title for each piece, but also the stories behind the pieces. And because of this Laura has come to be known as The Story Teller.
Artist Statement - I the artist recognize that I have been truly blessed to have been given such a natural spiritual talent. It is with this talent that I have been able to go places mentally, physically and spiritually that I could never have imagined possible. It is also through this gift/talent that I have been able to grow and most of all find peace and become one with self. I chose the name Heart2rt because I put my heart into my art. No two heartbeats are a like, just as no two pieces of my works are the same, but every beat counts in living life and each piece counts in what is brought to the viewer.
